Andrej Karpathy, a prominent artificial intelligence researcher and founding member of OpenAI, announced his departure from the Microsoft-backed company on Monday, according to a post on the social media platform X.

In his statement on Tuesday, Karpathy revealed that his immediate plan is to focus on personal projects and explore new opportunities. Karpathy, known for his expertise in AI, previously held a senior director position for AI at Tesla, where he played a pivotal role in the development of the electric car maker’s AI and driver assistance technology.
