Visa has launched a new suite of AI-powered dispute resolution tools aimed at helping businesses tackle the growing cost and complexity of payment disputes across the global financial ecosystem. The company unveiled six advanced solutions designed to help merchants, issuers, and acquirers reduce fraud-related losses while improving the speed and efficiency of dispute management.
As digital payments continue to rise globally, payment disputes have become a major challenge for businesses and financial institutions. According to Visa, the company processed over 106 million disputes worldwide in 2025, marking a sharp 35 percent increase since 2019. The rising numbers highlight the increasing pressure on merchants and banks to manage fraud, chargebacks, and customer complaints more effectively.
At the center of the innovation is the Visa Dispute Resolution Network, a technology-driven system built to streamline pre-dispute handling before issues escalate into costly chargebacks. Visa said the platform uses artificial intelligence and proprietary technology to speed up resolutions, reduce administrative workload, and improve transparency for all parties involved in digital transactions.
Speaking on the development, the Vice President and Cluster Head of Visa West Africa, Andrew Uaboi, noted that outdated technologies are making it harder for businesses to detect and prevent fraud efficiently. He explained that disputes create frustration for consumers while increasing operational costs and complexity for merchants and financial institutions operating in an increasingly digital economy.
Visa, which operates in more than 200 countries and territories, said the expanded dispute management suite will give clients better visibility and control over payment operations. The company believes the AI-powered tools will allow businesses to focus more on customer service, innovation, and growth while strengthening trust and security across the digital payments industry.
