The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reaffirmed that forming strong strategic alliances is critical to driving growth, sustainability, and commercialization in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector. The Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, emphasized this position while speaking at the 2025 Inaugural Annual Downstream Petroleum Week, organized by the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) on Tuesday.
Represented by the Executive Vice President, Downstream, Mumuni Dagazau, Ojulari described Nigeria’s downstream landscape as one defined by transition, opportunity, and reform. He stressed that collaboration between government, private investors, and host communities will determine the pace of progress in achieving an efficient and sustainable energy ecosystem for the country.
Highlighting Africa’s rising energy needs, Ojulari noted that Nigeria remains at the forefront of this demand surge. He urged stakeholders to adopt a coordinated approach to capture emerging opportunities, improve infrastructure, and ensure inclusive, long-term sectoral growth that benefits both investors and consumers.
In a statement signed by Andy Odeh, NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, the company pledged its continued commitment to fuel availability, competitive pricing, and quality assurance across its nationwide retail network. Ojulari explained that Nigeria’s path to a sustainable energy economy depends on “supply partnerships, infrastructure co-investments, security collaborations, host community cooperation, and operational alliances,” calling for all stakeholders to take collective responsibility for the sector’s future.
Ojulari also commended the National Assembly and the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) for providing a platform that fosters dialogue and collaboration. He assured that as a national energy company with commercial ambitions, NNPCL remains focused on advancing stakeholder engagement and building models that will secure sustainable growth in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.
