Google Chrome Adds “Skills” AI Feature to Save and Reuse Prompts Across Web Pages

Google is upgrading its Chrome browser with a new artificial intelligence feature designed to make everyday browsing faster and more personalized. The company announced the rollout of a tool called Skills, which allows users to save and reuse AI prompts across different web pages without retyping them each time.

The new feature is powered by Google’s integration of Gemini AI in Chrome, which already helps users summarize web pages, answer questions, and complete tasks directly within the browser. With Skills, Google is taking that functionality a step further by enabling users to turn repeated prompts into reusable shortcuts.

For example, a user who frequently asks Gemini for vegan substitutions while browsing recipes can now save that prompt as a Skill. Once saved, it can be triggered on any website with just a click, making it easier to apply the same AI instruction across multiple pages and tasks.

Users can activate Skills by typing a forward slash (/) or clicking a plus (+) icon in Gemini within Chrome. The saved prompt then runs on the current page or selected tabs. Google also allows users to edit Skills at any time, giving them flexibility to adjust workflows as their needs change.

To help users get started, Google is introducing a Skills library featuring ready-made workflows for productivity, shopping, budgeting, recipes, and more. The company says early testers have already used Skills for tasks like health tracking, document summarization, and shopping comparisons, showing how AI can streamline everyday digital activities.
