The Old Port Harcourt Refinery has received one million barrels of crude oil from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPCL) following its mechanical completion last December. This supply sets the stage for the commencement of petroleum product refining at the facility. NNPCL is aiming for a phased start of production, targeting August for partial operations. The crude oil was delivered in two batches, with the latest shipment arriving last Wednesday. This supply can produce approximately 170 million litres of petrol and other refined products. The refinery’s license was granted by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority. The $1.5 billion rehabilitation project includes Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and commissioning phases, marking it as a significant national initiative.
