FG, World Bank Trains 496 Youth in Web, App Development

In collaboration with Information Technology (IT) firms, the World Bank and the federal government have trained 496 young Nigerians in Web and Mobile App Development, comprising 218 males and 278 females.

At the flag-off/business pitching ceremony of the World Bank Digital Skills Development Programme of the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja, Project Leader Ololade Awe emphasized the importance of digital proficiency in today’s rapidly evolving world, highlighting its role as a fundamental requirement for personal and professional success.

Awe underscored the transformative impact of the digital revolution on industries, economies, and societies, emphasizing the need to equip Nigeria’s workforce with the skills to navigate and lead in this new landscape.

The National Project Coordinator, Mrs. Blessing Ehi Ogwu, explained that the Innovation Grant Facility (IGF) project, which was part of the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) project, received over 150 applications, reflecting its high competitiveness. The aim of the IDEAS project, supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and the World Bank, is to provide digital skills to young Nigerians, especially women and persons with disabilities, to enhance their employability.
