Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, has emphasized the country’s unwavering commitment to its long-standing strategic partnership with the United States, even amid today’s unpredictable global economic climate. Speaking at the 65th anniversary of the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce (NACC), Oduwole stressed the deep economic and human ties between both countries and the crucial role the chamber plays in keeping those connections strong.
The event also marked the official inauguration of Sheriff Balogun as the new president of NACC. In his acceptance speech, Balogun spoke with humility and purpose, outlining a bold vision anchored on three pillars: expansion, innovation, and impact. He pledged to ramp up efforts to strengthen trade and investment channels between Nigeria and the US through strategic dialogue and partnerships with American businesses and institutions.
As part of this renewed vision, Balogun announced plans to establish new NACC chapters in both countries to boost reach and engagement. A key focus will be supporting MSMEs, improving access to finance, and actively engaging stakeholders to drive exports and economic growth. He made it clear that these efforts will be results-driven, aiming to make a tangible impact on businesses and entrepreneurs alike.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the announcement of plans to complete the NACC’s permanent headquarters, described by Balogun as a hub for leadership, innovation, and the next generation of Nigerian entrepreneurs. The event drew a high-profile guest list including government officials, foreign diplomats, and traditional rulers, all signaling strong support for deeper Nigeria-US relations and the chamber’s ambitious new direction.
