Food security: FG providing N200 billion to support the cultivation of hectares of land

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, announced that the federal government will allocat N200 billion to enhance food security by supporting the cultivation of hectares of land.

During his address to the National Executive Council of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Abuja, Akume emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the nation’s food security issues amidst prevailing economic hardships. He highlighted additional measures, including N125 billion in conditional grants for small and medium enterprises and N150 billion in palliative loans to states to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal.

Akume also condemned the recent industrial strike by labor union leaders, particularly criticizing the shutdown of the national grid, labeling it as a “treasonable offence” and economic sabotage. He stressed that such actions jeopardize government efforts to rebuild the economy and urged labor unions to refrain from measures that could further destabilize the nation.
