Canada to raise fees for permanent residency applications

Starting April 30, 2024, Canada’s immigration department, IRCC, will increase fees for permanent residency applications. The fee, currently at $515, will rise to $575, marking a 12 percent increase. This adjustment follows Canadian regulations linked to the Consumer Price Index.

An important change is the waiver of fees for dependent children accompanying applicants seeking permanent residence. This move aligns with the process of obtaining a green card in the United States, making it easier for families to pursue Canadian citizenship opportunities.

Additionally, Canadian authorities have raised fees for various immigration programs, including federal skilled workers, provincial nominee programs, and caregiver pilots. For main applicants, application fees will increase from $850 to $950, while fees for accompanying dependent children will rise from $230 to $260.
