The Eko Hotel in Lagos witnessed an evening filled with deep emotions as political and business leaders, friends, family, and associates gathered to bid their final farewells to the late Herbert Wigwe, former Group CEO of Access Holdings Plc.

CBN Governor, Cardoso, and Wale Edun lauded Wigwe’s contributions to the nation’s economic growth, emphasizing his dedication to addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges and his innovative thinking. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group, praised Wigwe’s ingenuity, highlighting his remarkable achievements. Aliko Dangote, describing Wigwe as one of his mentees, acknowledged his pivotal role in the successful completion of the Refinery project. Prominent figures such as Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, who partnered with Wigwe in acquiring Access Bank, also paid tribute to his legacy.

The tragic helicopter crash outside Washington, D.C. claimed the lives of Herbert Wigwe, his wife, son, and former NGX Group chairman Abimbola Ogunbanjo, along with two crew members.
