Comrade Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has raised concerns about the federal government’s alleged plans to incite violence against NLC members participating in the planned nationwide strike on Tuesday.

Ajaero reiterated the NLC’s commitment to proceed with the protest as decided by the national executive council, emphasizing that the grievances of the people cannot be suppressed by force. In a statement released on Sunday, Ajaero expressed apprehension about potential attacks on the protest and warned of a complete shutdown if violence were unleashed against peaceful demonstrators.

Furthermore, he stated that the NLC had notified the African Union and the United Nations about the perceived threat to the people’s right to peacefully protest and demand relief from economic challenges and hardship imposed by the Nigerian state.
