The Nigeria Immigration Service declared that travellers returning to Nigeria may enter the nation using a Nigerian passport that has expired. This information was included in a document sent to all mission chiefs, immigration attachés, airport comptrollers, and airlines.

All airlines were asked to allow holders of expired Nigerian passports to board flights without any problems, according to a memo issued by the Special Assistant to the Comptroller General (Foreign Desk), DCI BM Lawal, for the Comptroller-General of the Immigration Service, Muhammed Babandede.

Additionally, all Nigerian diplomatic missions abroad are respectfully encouraged to share this information with host country’s border control and aircraft carriers.
