Nigeria’s first crude oil well will be launched and inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari. This marks the beginning of the validation phase of northern Nigeria’s first integrated oil development project.

The event, is to take place at the Kolmani OPLs 809 and 810 exploration sites. It is located in a village that is on the boundary between the states of Bauchi and Gombe.

The Kolmani River II Well’s historic spud-in ceremony was marked off by Buhari in February 2019.

The Kolmani River region, at the border village between Bauchi and Gombe states, was where crude oil, gas, and condensate were discovered by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited (previously Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation) by October 2019. About N3 billion was spent on frontier exploration by NNPC in the first seven months of 2022.
