Ramon “HUSHPUPPI” Abbas, a well-known Instagram user, was given an 11-year prison term in the US. He was detained in Dubai, United Arab Emirate (UAE), in June 2020; as a result of a massive fraud scheme that had defrauded individuals in the United States, Qatar, the United Kingdom, and other countries of their money.

He was brought to the US and accused with money laundering and fraud. Prior to his scheduled sentencing on September 19, Hushpuppi delivered a handwritten letter to Judge Otis Wright; outlining his source of riches, criminal exploits, and apologies.

Hushpuppi’s sentence was postponed by Judge Otis Wright from September 19 until November 3.

Hushpuppi Abbas, however, will serve nine years in prison; because, he previously served two years in the US after being apprehended in Dubai in 2020.

Last month, the US government petitioned the Central California District Court to sentence Hushpuppi to 135 months in prison for fraud. He apologised to his family members for bringing them shame; while commending the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for doing a thorough job in bringing him to justice.
