Firm deploys AI, WhatsApp to boost learning in varsities

Nigeria’s education technology sector has received a significant boost with the launch of Gemnex, a new artificial intelligence-powered learning platform developed by ProjKonnect. Designed specifically for students in universities, polytechnics, and colleges, the platform combines AI technology with WhatsApp integration to make academic support more accessible, affordable, and convenient for learners across the country.

According to ProjKonnect, Gemnex was created to address some of the long-standing challenges facing tertiary education in Nigeria, including limited access to quality learning resources, inadequate academic support, and the high cost of internet connectivity. The platform allows students to receive course-specific guidance through a dedicated mobile application as well as directly on WhatsApp, making learning easier even in areas with poor internet access.

Founder of ProjKonnect, Paul Ojo, said the initiative is aimed at helping students unlock their full academic potential by providing personalized learning experiences tailored to their individual needs. He noted that while many Nigerian students possess the talent and determination to succeed, they often lack the resources and support systems necessary to fully understand difficult courses and prepare for future careers. According to him, Gemnex was developed to bridge that gap and make quality education available to more students.

The WhatsApp integration is one of the platform’s most innovative features. ProjKonnect’s Partnership Manager, Onisabi Habeeb, explained that the company recognized the realities of Nigeria’s digital landscape, where unreliable internet services and expensive data costs continue to limit access to educational tools. Through WhatsApp, students can ask academic questions, receive learning support, and engage with course materials without relying heavily on high-bandwidth internet connections.

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape education worldwide, ProjKonnect believes Gemnex can play a key role in improving learning outcomes and expanding access to educational opportunities for young Nigerians. The company said its dual-channel approach reflects a broader commitment to using technology and innovation to create a more inclusive learning environment, ensuring that students can access the support they need regardless of their location or economic circumstances.
