The Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s capital market following the election of Jude Chiemeka, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (Nigerian Exchange Limited), as its new Second Vice President. The appointment followed a competitive election process within the professional body.
Chiemeka’s new role places him on a clear leadership trajectory within the institute, with expectations that he could ascend to the presidency in the next four years. CIS described the development as a key step toward reinforcing professionalism and improving governance within the capital market ecosystem.
According to CIS, Chiemeka will work closely with the 14th President-elect, Fiona Ahimie, and the Governing Council to advance the institute’s mandate. His swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for June 25, 2026, marking a new leadership phase for the organization.
In its statement, CIS emphasized that the election reflects its broader mission to promote market integrity and investor confidence. Chiemeka, who also serves as Chairman of the West African Capital Markets Integration Council (West African Capital Markets Integration Council), brings over three decades of experience in investment banking, securities trading, and asset management across African markets.
Over the years, he has earned recognition for major contributions to capital market innovation, including cross-border trading initiatives and landmark fund listings. CIS noted that his professional affiliations, including the Institute of Directors (Institute of Directors) and the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment), further highlight his global industry standing and commitment to continuous development.
