AI Ventures Accelerator Offers $10,000 to Empower Women-Led African Startups
African women entrepreneurs are being given a golden opportunity to grow their startups with the launch of the AI Ventures Accelerator, a program offering $10,000 in equity-free seed funding to selected teams. The initiative, run by Technovation and Generation Unlimited, also provides mentorship and guidance, aiming to strengthen entrepreneurship and AI skills across developing economies.
The 12-week intensive program equips participants with both technical and business skills required to launch and scale AI-driven ventures. Participants will learn foundational AI concepts, human-centered design, and entrepreneurship while developing practical solutions to real-world problems. They will also gain hands-on experience with generative AI tools, machine learning models, dataset curation, and building web or mobile applications.
Mentorship is a core element of the accelerator. Expert advisors help participants craft investor-ready business pitches, refine strategies, and strengthen leadership and communication skills. By the end of the program, the top 10 teams will share $100,000 in equity-free seed funding and present their ventures at a live Demo Day, enabling them to hire developers, attract customers, and scale beyond prototypes.
Eligibility is open to women aged 19 to 24 living in UNICEF program countries. Teams of two to four are preferred, though solo founders can apply. Applicants should be genuinely passionate about technology, committed to solving real community problems, and ready to dedicate 10–15 hours weekly over the 12 weeks. Selection will prioritize those who clearly identify the problem, demonstrate community engagement, and show determination to create meaningful impact.
This initiative is part of a broader wave of AI-focused startup support across Africa. Last month, Google opened applications for the 10th cohort of the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa, targeting Series A AI startups. Programs like these highlight the growing investment in women-led tech ventures and underscore Africa’s emerging role as a hub for innovation-driven entrepreneurship.
