The Dangote Group is leading efforts to modernize Nigeria’s agricultural sector through strategic partnerships aimed at boosting productivity and economic growth. The company’s initiatives were highlighted as it sponsors the 17th National Agricultural Show, which opens on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in Keffi, Nasarawa State. According to the company, mechanised agriculture is key to strengthening Nigeria’s GDP while generating employment opportunities for the country’s youth.
Anthony Chiejina, the spokesman for the Dangote Group, emphasized that the company’s collaboration with partners will encourage greater participation in commercial agriculture. “Through this partnership, we aim to reinforce agriculture’s role in Nigeria’s economic growth while offering sustainable livelihoods for young people,” he said. The theme of this year’s show, ‘Employing Smallholder Farmers: Restoring Value, Ensuring Productivity Will Ensure Attainment of Food Security in Nigeria,’ reflects the strategic importance of reviving agricultural value.
Experts at the show noted that restoring value to agriculture can provide Nigeria with a practical route to economic renewal. Chiejina explained that modern farming techniques and incentives can make agriculture a reliable engine of growth, supporting job creation, stabilizing markets, and strengthening the national economy. He stressed that adopting mechanised farming could transform Nigeria’s agricultural landscape into a sustainable growth sector.
The Dangote Group is also investing heavily in agro-industrial projects across the country. The company is developing rice mills in Kano, Jigawa, Niger, Kebbi, and Sokoto States, with a combined annual milling capacity of 1.5 million tonnes. In addition, it is expanding backward-integration projects in the sugar sector in Nasarawa and Adamawa States, and operates a fertilizer complex in Lagos’ Lekki Free Trade Zone with a 3 million metric tonnes annual urea production capacity.
National Agricultural Foundation organizers praised the Dangote Group’s continued support of the annual show. Kabiru Adamu, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, described Dangote as “our greatest ally from inception,” highlighting the group’s role in enabling the show’s success. Adamu also urged continued investment in agriculture, noting that this year’s event will showcase farm machinery, processing innovations, and the active participation of youth and women farmers committed to strengthening Nigeria’s food system.
