Christabel Onyejekwe has officially been named the new Chairperson of Africa Prudential Plc, marking a significant leadership transition for the tech-driven registrar company. Her appointment was confirmed during the company’s 12th Annual General Meeting and took effect on April 11, 2025. Prior to this role, Onyejekwe served as an independent non-executive director on the board in 2024, bringing decades of experience in financial services to her new position.
She succeeds Eniola Fadayomi, who stepped down after 12 years of dedicated service. Fadayomi’s tenure was noted for solidifying Africa Prudential’s reputation as a forward-thinking, technology-led company within the continent’s registrar services space. In her parting remarks, she praised Onyejekwe’s leadership potential and expressed confidence in her ability to guide the company into a new era of innovation and growth.
Onyejekwe brings over 30 years of industry experience, including her role as Executive Director of Business Development at the Nigerian Inter-Bank Settlement Systems Plc (NIBSS). She has a solid track record of spearheading strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s financial infrastructure. She currently sits on multiple corporate boards and is widely respected for her expertise in governance, strategy, and risk management. In her acceptance, she expressed enthusiasm for building on the company’s legacy and working closely with the board to drive its long-term objectives.
The AGM also marked a broader board transition, with the retirement of non-executive directors Samuel Nwanze and Peter Elumelu after 12 years of service. In line with its succession plans, the board has nominated Vincent Ukoh, CEO of HH Capital Limited, as a new non-executive director—pending approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). With a renewed leadership structure, Africa Prudential is reinforcing its commitment to governance, innovation, and sustainable business growth.
