Electricity DisCos collects N150 billion as revenue in June- NERC

In June 2024, electricity distribution companies (DisCos) across Nigeria collected N150.86 billion, achieving an 85.44% revenue collection efficiency, according to the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

DisCos billed customers N176.57 billion in total, with Ikeja DisCo collecting the highest amount at N30.06 billion, boasting a billing efficiency of 102.44%. Eko DisCo followed with N26.37 billion and a 97.07% efficiency rate.

While Benin DisCo had a strong billing efficiency of 89.49%, Abuja DisCo came third in revenue collection, receiving N24.29 billion. In contrast, Yola DisCo recorded the lowest revenue collection efficiency at 60.81%, followed by Jos and Kaduna DisCos at 62.03% and 66.46%, respectively.

In energy terms, DisCos received 2,190.12 GWh of electricity and billed 1,850.73 GWh, reflecting a billing efficiency of 85.44%. Enugu DisCo led with a 95.63% energy billing efficiency, while Kaduna, Jos, and Kano DisCos had the lowest rates. The N150 billion collected in June represents a rise following the tariff increase for Band A users, introduced earlier in the year.
