The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two major Chinese engineering firms, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and China Geo-Engineering Corporation Overseas Construction (CGCOC) Group, to enhance electricity and water supply in Abuja.

The MoU was signed during President Bola Tinubu’s visit to China, aligning with his agenda to implement impactful infrastructure projects.

The projects, expected to be completed by 2025, will light up key districts such as Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse, and the Central Business District, with satellite water supply projects in Gwagwalada, Kwali, and Kuje.

Wike also noted that the Greater Abuja Water Works is 75% complete and on track for completion by December 2024. Both Chinese firms have committed to delivering high-quality work on schedule.
