Former Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir, represented by his lawyer Mohamed al-Hassan al-Amin, has been relocated from a hospital, where he has been receiving treatment since the outbreak of war in Sudan last April, to a secure military facility.

Al-Amin stated that Mr. Bashir and four others were moved from the Medical Corps due to a complete depletion of healthcare resources. Previously, he had been undergoing treatment at a military hospital in Omdurman city, which came under siege by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Despite efforts by Sudan’s regional and international partners to mediate between the army and RSF, no resolution has been reached throughout the conflict, which has resulted in the death of at least 14,000 people and the displacement of around 10 million others.Omar al-Bashir, who faced corruption charges and was undergoing trial for leading a military coup in 1989, remains a prominent figure in Sudan’s political landscape.
