The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) is ramping up efforts in the battle against fake and substandard goods across the country. Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke, the Director General of SON, expressed this commitment during an appearance before a joint National Assembly committee on Industry.
While defending the 2023 budget performance and presenting the 2024 budget proposal in Abuja, Dr. Okeke emphasized the organization’s aggressive stance against substandard products.Pledging unwavering commitment to serving the nation, Dr. Okeke outlined SON’s dedication to intensifying product testing.
Senator Ade Fadahunsi, Chairman of the Senate Committee for Industry, Trade, and Investment, commended SON for its efforts to collaborate with Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for sectoral growth. The committee applauded Dr. Okeke’s drive against substandard products, urging local manufacturers to utilize SON’s laboratories nationwide for testing and certification.
