Due to biometric violations discovered during the fingerprint capture process, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has stated that 817 individuals’ registrations for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) have been canceled.
The use of one or two additional fingerprints by registration officers in select Computer Based Test (CBT) centers to complete the registration procedure for some applicants was discovered by our technology.
“We spoke with the CBT centres responsible, and each one admitted to having committed the offense.
“However, the CBT centre proprietors put out the remedy. We revoked the affected individuals’ registrations and will notify them to return to the CBT centres where they originally enrolled, with the CBT centres paying JAMB the cost of registration for candidates.
The head of JAMB emphasized the risks associated with permitting a registration officer or any other individual to add their finger during the collection of a candidate’s biometric information.
“By putting his or her finger to your registration, it implies he or she may modify all your particulars while you are not there,” he warned applicants.
Because of this, he said, “we set up a system that will bring up any unusual finger that is not yours, and as a result, we were able to identify them.”
