The United States said that it would contribute $200 million to Nigeria; and other nations to speed up their transition to clean energy sources. During a separate courtesy visit to the Minister of Environment, Mohammed Abdullahi, in Abuja, the U.S. Special Presidential envoy for climate communication made this known.
John Kerry, the Special Envoy of the United States for Climate Change and a member of the security council, gave Nigeria the assurance that the U.S. Will provide technical support in the effort to decarbonize its energy sources.
Additionally, the project aims to hasten the development of the market, which will aid the transition program and contribute to the development of a clean energy economy while addressing the climate catastrophe.
The Minister responded by thanking the U.S. Administration for considering Nigeria as one of the nations to take part in the Clean Energy Demand Initiative. In order to effectively implement environmental programs and reach net zero in Nigeria, he guaranteed that the ministry was dedicated to cooperating with the U.S. Government.
