Bank of America is putting serious money behind America’s next phase of growth, announcing plans to deploy $250 billion to support U.S. digital, energy and infrastructure projects through July 2027. The Wall Street bank said the initiative is designed to strengthen the country’s economic growth while helping create tens of thousands of jobs as demand for modern infrastructure continues to rise.
The initiative, known as the “Critical Infrastructure Finance Initiative,” will provide financing through lending, investments, capital markets services, banking and advisory solutions. Bank of America said the programme covers eligible activities from January 1, 2026, through July 4, 2027, a period linked to the United States’ 250th anniversary celebrations.
A major focus will be America’s rapidly expanding digital economy. Bank of America plans to support projects involving data centres, computing infrastructure and other digital facilities, alongside energy and power developments such as renewable energy generation and energy storage. The bank will also finance core infrastructure projects, including transportation and natural gas.
The move comes as U.S. financial institutions increasingly position themselves to benefit from the massive investment needed to support artificial intelligence, data centres, critical minerals and the modernization of the country’s energy system. Bank of America’s announcement also follows Morgan Stanley’s recent plan to facilitate about $1.5 trillion over the next decade for technology and infrastructure projects, highlighting the growing competition among major banks to finance America’s infrastructure transformation.
Bank of America executives say the scale of investment reflects the enormous capital required to meet America’s infrastructure needs. Karen Fang, co-head of global capital solutions at the bank, said meeting these demands will require financing across interconnected sectors and both public and private markets. With billions flowing into technology, energy and essential infrastructure, the latest initiative signals that America’s economic future may increasingly depend on how quickly these projects can move from plans to reality.
