Stock futures edge higher after rip-roaring rally leads Dow to record closing high

The U.S. stock market opened Tuesday with renewed optimism after the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at an all-time high in the previous trading session. Stock futures edged higher as investors looked ahead to another wave of corporate earnings, while recovering oil prices added to the positive market sentiment. The rally signals growing confidence among investors despite recent market volatility, with major technology companies continuing to lead the charge.

Dow Jones futures gained 34 points in premarket trading, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures also moved higher. One of the biggest highlights came from artificial intelligence company Palantir, whose shares surged more than 17% after reporting impressive quarterly earnings, including a remarkable 93% increase in revenue compared to the same period last year. Investors are also closely watching SpaceX, which is preparing to release its first quarterly earnings report since becoming a publicly traded company. Other major firms, including Caterpillar, McDonald’s, and chipmaker AMD, are also expected to announce their financial results, making it another crucial day for Wall Street.

Monday’s strong market performance was largely fueled by gains in technology stocks. Amazon crossed the historic $3 trillion market capitalization milestone for the first time, while Nvidia, Meta Platforms, Alphabet, and Microsoft all posted notable gains. The technology sector continues to drive investor enthusiasm as companies demonstrate resilience and strong earnings growth, helping lift broader market indexes to new highs.

Market analysts believe the positive momentum reflects improving economic confidence. Jose Torres, Senior Economist at Interactive Brokers, noted that recent manufacturing and services data, combined with encouraging corporate earnings, have strengthened investor expectations for future returns. He added that recent declines in technology stock valuations have created attractive buying opportunities, encouraging investors to re-enter the market with renewed optimism.

Meanwhile, oil prices also rebounded sharply, with U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude rising 2.3% to $82.18 per barrel and Brent crude climbing nearly 2.8% to $86.06. Investors are also awaiting the release of June factory orders and international trade data, which could provide fresh insight into the strength of the U.S. economy. Overseas markets mirrored the upbeat mood, with European and Asian stock indexes posting gains led by Italy’s FTSE MIB, South Korea’s Kospi, and China’s CSI 300, highlighting growing confidence across global financial markets.
