The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has reported a strong financial performance for April 2026, posting a profit after tax of N481 billion, a significant increase from N276 billion in March. The latest figures reflect a sharp improvement in the company’s operational efficiency and market performance.

According to its April 2026 operational and financial report, NNPC also recorded a major surge in revenue, climbing to N4.97 trillion, compared to N2.77 trillion in March, representing an impressive 79% month-on-month growth. The company attributed the increase to improved crude oil output and stronger sales performance across its operations.

Between January and April 2026, the national oil company said it remitted N3.71 trillion to the Federal Government, up from N2.89 trillion recorded in the first quarter of the year. This highlights the company’s continued role as a major contributor to Nigeria’s fiscal stability amid ongoing economic pressures.

On the production side, crude oil and condensate output rose slightly to 1.68 million barrels per day in April, compared to 1.56 million barrels per day in March, indicating a gradual recovery in upstream operations. Natural gas production remained steady at 7.7 billion standard cubic feet per day, while pipeline availability stood at 79%, supporting more stable energy distribution.

Despite the positive performance, NNPC acknowledged operational challenges, including delays in the Trans Ramos Pipeline due to leak detection and integrity issues. However, the company also highlighted infrastructure progress, including the successful OB3 River Niger pipeline crossing and continued work on the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline. Its foundation also expanded social impact efforts, rehabilitating hospital wards in Lagos and training over 72,000 NYSC members in financial literacy.
