UK-Nigeria Tech Hub Launches Creative Fund to Boost Film, Fashion and Music Industries in Nigeria
The UK-Nigeria Tech Hub has officially launched a Creative Fund aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s fast-growing creative sector, particularly in film, fashion, and music. The initiative is designed to close key technical gaps and help local creatives access modern production tools and digital infrastructure.
According to a statement released by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) on Tuesday, the fund will support creative businesses that need improved digital capacity. It will also encourage the use of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, in creative production.
Applications are now open to eligible organisations such as production studios, fashion enterprises, music labels, and creative companies with clear technical development needs. The goal is to help these businesses scale their work locally while improving quality and efficiency in production.
The Creative Fund is aligned with the UK-Nigeria Economic Transformation and Investment Partnership (ETIP) Creatives Working Group, launched in March 2025. It also builds on commitments made during President Bola Tinubu’s state visit to the United Kingdom in March 2026, focusing on long-term growth in Nigeria’s creative economy.
Officials say the programme will provide access to essential digital tools such as content delivery systems, digital rights management platforms, and AI-powered production technologies. With Nigeria’s creative sector already employing about 4.2 million people and contributing roughly $3 billion to GDP, stakeholders believe the initiative could further unlock job creation and global competitiveness—especially as many practitioners still lack formal training and financing access.
