Apple names John Ternus as new CEO in historic leadership transition at $4 trillion tech giant

Apple Inc. has announced a major leadership change, naming John Ternus as its new chief executive officer. John Ternus is widely known within Apple as a hardware-focused executive with deep engineering expertise. Since joining the company in 2001, he has climbed the ranks from product design engineer to senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. Over the years, he has overseen major developments across Apple’s product ecosystem, including the iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, and AirPods, while also driving improvements in performance, sustainability, and durability.

Ternus holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and previously worked at Virtual Research Systems before joining Apple. His appointment comes at a time when Apple continues to expand its services, hardware innovation, and sustainability agenda—building on the foundation established during Tim Cook’s tenure, which saw the company grow into one of the most valuable corporations in the world.
