The CyberSafe Foundation, supported by Google.org, has announced the launch of Resilio Africa, a three-year initiative designed to bolster cybersecurity across Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The program targets critical community institutions (CCIs) and aims to tackle the growing threat of cyberattacks that have increasingly affected the region’s organizations and communities.

Resilio Africa will provide 200 CCIs with free access to advanced technical tools, cyber threat assessments, intelligence updates, and incident response frameworks. By strengthening the cyber resilience of these institutions, the project hopes to safeguard public services and community operations in countries including Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa.

With its ambitious scope, Resilio Africa is projected to protect over two million people and secure more than 15 million public records. The initiative also plans to provide over 10,000 hours of pro bono cyber consulting, ensuring that CCI teams have practical support to prevent, detect, and respond to digital threats effectively.

Beyond technology, Resilio Africa will focus on human capacity building. The program will deliver tiered training for executives, IT teams, and general staff, targeting over 4,500 employees and decision-makers. This approach aims to raise awareness of digital threats, enhance institutional cybersecurity readiness, and empower organizations to manage risks proactively.

Haviva Kohl, Senior Programme Manager at Google.org, highlighted the importance of secure digital systems for inclusive growth. “Our support for CyberSafe Foundation’s CCI cybersecurity efforts reflects our shared commitment to empowering communities and protecting the institutions that serve them,” she said. Resilio Africa is now positioned as one of the most significant community-focused cybersecurity initiatives in Africa’s digital ecosystem.
