Nigeria is taking a major step toward transforming its agricultural sector as a high-level delegation led by Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani and the Director-General of the Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), Mr. Joseph Tegbe, began strategic engagements with top agribusiness firms in Beijing, China. The mission underscores Nigeria’s commitment to expanding agro-industrial growth and attracting foreign investment.
During the visit, the delegation toured Beijing Doudian Yisheng Halal Meat Industry Co. Ltd and CP Food Layers and Eggs Ltd, key players in China’s livestock and poultry ecosystem. These visits are part of ongoing efforts to enhance Nigeria’s livestock sector and complement NCSP’s earlier engagement with DQY Ecological Farm, a leading subsidiary of the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) Group, which is recognized for its advanced agricultural technology platforms.
Officials said the engagements focused on deepening technical cooperation, finalizing project frameworks, and securing long-term investment commitments from Chinese partners. These initiatives are expected to strengthen the agricultural value chain in Kaduna State and other regions, aligning with the Federal Government’s strategic priorities on food security, agricultural industrialization, and increased foreign investment under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
A centerpiece of this cooperation is the planned USD $200 million National Integrated Poultry Development Project, with a pilot phase in Kaduna State. Designed for replication across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, the project aims to become one of West Africa’s most technologically advanced poultry enterprises. Analysts project that it will reduce market costs for eggs and poultry, generate over USD $450 million annually, and create more than 350,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The delegation expressed gratitude to the Government of China for its sustained partnership and commitment to Nigeria’s agricultural growth. Chinese institutions engaged during the mission signaled strong interest in expanding investment and technology collaboration. The NCSP reaffirmed its commitment to high-impact bilateral partnerships that modernize agriculture, boost economic diversification, and create inclusive opportunities for millions of Nigerians.
