The Federal Government of Nigeria has reiterated its strong commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with China, emphasizing that the collaboration is central to Nigeria’s industrial and economic development. President Bola Tinubu made this known while receiving Joseph Tegbe, the Director-General and Global Liaison of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Tinubu affirmed that his administration views the alliance as vital in driving forward the country’s foreign and economic agenda.

During the meeting, President Tinubu described the NCSP as a key component of Nigeria’s policy, particularly in areas such as trade, infrastructure, energy, and human capital development. He highlighted the importance of leveraging international cooperation, especially with China, to achieve transformative growth. Tinubu also praised the evolving relationship between both nations and reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to maximise the benefits of the partnership.

Joseph Tegbe provided the President with updates on the implementation of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between Nigeria and China, which was signed by both President Tinubu and Chinese President Xi Jinping. He noted that the collaboration had made significant progress, particularly in engaging high-level Chinese government officials and potential investors from various industries.

According to Tegbe, the NCSP has been instrumental in drawing investment interest in sectors including infrastructure, technology, manufacturing, agriculture, education, healthcare, and mineral development. These targeted investments, he said, are geared towards enhancing Nigeria’s economic landscape and achieving sustainable development goals.

President Tinubu concluded the session by urging the NCSP team to expedite the implementation of critical projects under the partnership. He stressed the need for Nigeria to start delivering tangible and measurable outcomes for its citizens through international partnerships, reaffirming his trust in Tegbe’s leadership and the NCSP’s strategic direction.
