Apple is preparing to address one of the most common issues iPhone users face—battery life—by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into its iOS 19 update, scheduled for release in September 2025. According to a Bloomberg report, the new AI-powered battery management system will monitor user interactions with their devices and optimize power consumption in real time. This feature will not only extend battery life but also adjust energy usage by learning patterns in how individuals use their phones.
This innovation is part of Apple’s broader strategy to expand its AI ecosystem, known as “Apple Intelligence.” The system will analyze battery data from millions of devices to predict when to conserve energy by scaling down power-hungry features or background processes. One of the noticeable features will include a lock-screen indicator that shows how much time it will take for an iPhone to fully charge, further enhancing user experience.
As Apple continues to integrate AI across its devices, the upcoming battery optimization tool is particularly designed with the iPhone 17 in mind. This slimmed-down model will feature a smaller battery due to its thinner design, potentially leading to shorter battery life. The AI-driven solution aims to mitigate this drawback by making the device more energy-efficient. However, the new battery-saving feature will be available for all iPhones that are compatible with iOS 19, not just the iPhone 17.
Apple’s AI plans are not limited to iPhones. The company is also expected to roll out Apple Intelligence across other devices like the iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. While the AI models may not run directly on the Apple Watch due to processing constraints, the Watch will still benefit from new tools labeled as “powered by Apple Intelligence,” ensuring that all of Apple’s core products are part of this integrated ecosystem.
In addition to AI advancements, the upcoming iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16 will feature a redesigned user interface, named Solarium, which draws inspiration from sunlit glass rooms. This redesign will unify the experience across Apple devices, making them more cohesive. Additionally, users will soon have the ability to auto-connect to Wi-Fi networks that require browser logins, enhancing usability in public spaces. Meanwhile, Apple has rolled out a minor update, iOS 18.5, which includes bug fixes, with an iOS 18.6 update in the works to extend Apple Intelligence support to users in China.
