The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, emphasized the agency’s commitment to becoming more taxpayer-friendly through ongoing reforms and innovations. He made these remarks at the 2024 Lagos International Trade Fair (LITF), where he was represented by Mr. Isola Akingbade, State Administrator of FIRS, Lagos Island.
Adedeji highlighted FIRS’ efforts to simplify the tax payment and filing processes for both internal staff and external taxpayers, including businesses and individuals. He emphasized that FIRS is focused on ensuring compliance without imposing unnecessary fines or penalties, to foster the growth and prosperity of Nigerian businesses.
Dr. Loveth Onanuga, Director of Taxpayer Services at FIRS, further elaborated on the partnership between FIRS and the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) for the fair. She noted that the agency’s participation underscores its recognition of the business community as a vital stakeholder in the nation’s economic development.
