Former INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, has presented a 152-page report to President Bola Tinubu, detailing recommendations for a 10-year livestock sector transformation.

The report provides guidelines for the newly established Federal Ministry of Livestock Development and suggests measures to resolve the farmers-herders crisis.

Jega emphasized that the livestock sector holds significant investment opportunities, urging Nigerians not to associate it solely with conflicts.

He highlighted the potential of the poultry sector, valued at N1.7 trillion, as part of the broader livestock productivity strategy.

President Tinubu previously tasked the Livestock Reforms Committee, led by Jega, to work towards creating new opportunities in the livestock value chain, stressing the importance of non-partisan collaboration in achieving the reforms’ objectives.
