The UK’s immigration statistics for the year ending June 2024 reveal a total of 1.16 million visas issued across work, study, and family categories.
This includes both short-term and long-term visas, extensions, and grants of settlement or citizenship.
The latest data highlights notable shifts in visa patterns and trends over the past year.
Work visas saw a significant 11% decline, with 286,382 visas granted, although this figure remains more than double that of 2019.
The ‘Health and Care Worker’ visa category experienced a dramatic 26% drop, raising concerns about health sector staffing, while Skilled Worker visas saw a slight decrease.
Conversely, the number of Temporary Worker visas issued indicates ongoing demand for seasonal and temporary labor.
In the study visa category, there was a 13% decrease to 432,225 visas, though the long-term trend remains positive.
Family-related visas surged by 40%, with 98,906 granted, and there was a notable increase in settlement and citizenship grants, rising by 17% and 37%, respectively.
These statistics reflect evolving trends in the UK’s immigration landscape.
