In August 2024, Ghana’s Upper West and Upper East regions recorded the highest inflation rates, with food inflation at 41.5% and non-food inflation at 31.9%. Savannah and Bono East followed closely for food inflation at 31.9% and 30.0%, while Northern and Ashanti regions saw non-food inflation rates of 25.0% and 23.8%. The Ghana Statistical Service’s Consumer Price Index report for August shows that Eastern, Upper East, Ahafo, and Greater Accra regions also had high food inflation, ranging between 20.9% and 24.5%. In the non-food category, Western, Western North, and Greater Accra regions reported rates from 21.5% to 23.2%. Lower inflation rates were recorded in Volta, North East, and Western North regions for food, with rates as low as 4.9%, and non-food inflation as low as 13.1% in regions like Upper West. This variation highlights the regional inflation disparity across the country.
