Cement retailers in Ghana have expressed support for the new Legislative Instrument (LI) aimed at stabilizing cement prices.
Retailers believe the law will bring much-needed relief and allow for more predictable pricing in the construction sector.
Despite resistance from cement manufacturers and some industry stakeholders, the LI was passed into law after a mandatory 21-day review period, following its introduction by Trade Minister K.T. Hammond on July 2, 2024.
Retailers in Accra are optimistic that the regulation will ease business operations and help consumers make better purchasing decisions amid rising costs.
