The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has teamed up with the Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Services (NAQS) to improve the export of agricultural products via Nigerian airports.

This collaboration, strengthened by the newly formed Directorate of Cargo Development Services at FAAN, aims to streamline the export process and boost Nigeria’s role as a leading agricultural exporter in Africa.

The Aviacargo Roadmap Committee introduced a five-step export process, including farm registration, compliance checks, and handling by licensed companies, to ensure efficient and traceable exports.

Trial exports from four airports—Lagos, Kano, Enugu, and Jos—are scheduled for later this year to establish a replicable benchmark for other exporters.

Both FAAN and NAQS are committed to overcoming logistical challenges, such as the need for a robust cold chain infrastructure, and ensuring strict licensing and operating procedures to support this initiative.
