On Wednesday in Malabo, Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu and Equatorial Guinea’s President Teodoro Mbasogo signed an agreement for the Gulf of Guinea Pipeline Project, marking a significant step in the two nations’ partnership for mutual development.
The agreement outlines legislative and regulatory frameworks for the gas pipeline’s establishment, operation, and ownership, as well as principles for the transit of natural gas.
During the signing, President Tinubu highlighted the potential for the agreement to boost gas exploration and create employment opportunities.
The two leaders also discussed broader issues affecting the continent, including conflict resolution, food security, and multilateral relations.
They emphasized the need for African solutions to African problems, calling for peace and stability across the continent.
President Mbasogo reiterated the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation and affirmed Equatorial Guinea’s commitment to working with Nigeria to secure a permanent seat for Africa on the United Nations Security Council.
The signing was witnessed by key ministers from both countries, underscoring its strategic importance for Africa’s development.
