Kerosene Prices Jump to N1,439.64/ltr: North Central Hit Hardest

The cost of kerosene, a vital fuel for many Nigerian households, has risen significantly. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the average price per liter of kerosene increased by 6.29% in April 2024 compared to March 2024. This jump follows a year-on-year increase of 24.04%.

The NBS report also revealed significant price variations across Nigerian states. Benue topped the list with the highest average price per liter at N1,788.47, while Katsina offered the lowest price at N1,222.22. Interestingly, the North Central zone recorded the highest average price, while the South-East zone offered consumers some relief with the lowest average price.

The price hike extends to buying kerosene by the gallon as well. The average price per gallon rose by 5.61% month-on-month and a staggering 24.17% year-on-year. Similar to the per-liter pricing, Kano state had the highest average price per gallon, while Kwara offered the lowest. The North-East zone again faced the highest average price per gallon, while the North-Central zone saw the lowest.
