AIMAN Seeks Review Of 50% IGR Deduction From Aviation Agencies

The Aeronautical Information Management Association of Nigeria (AIMAN) is lobbying for the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) to be exempt from a federal government policy that automatically deducts 50% of internally generated revenue. AIMAN argues that NAMA’s role in air safety is critical and economic considerations shouldn’t compromise it.

This request comes amidst positive developments for NAMA. The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, recently facilitated a N40 billion intervention fund to support the completion of Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) Automation. This project upgrades navigational aids, communication facilities, and improves air-to-ground communication.

NAMA’s Director of Legal Services, Barr Isemiuhonmon Rita Egbadon, highlighted that the AIS Automation project is nearing completion at 90%. She emphasized NAMA’s commitment to finalizing the project, which will not only enhance safety but also boost the agency’s revenue generation.
