NACCIMA hosts delegations from China, discusses Nigeria-China trade relations

The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) hosted a 22-member delegation from Hunan Province, China, at the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).

The delegation, led by Shen Yumou, the Director General of the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province, included government officials, business leaders, and representatives from the Bank of China. They were accompanied by Dr. Victor Ayemere, NACCIMA Coordinator in China and Chairman of Zeenab Foods Limited.

During the meeting, Chief Emeka Obegolu, representing the National President of NACCIMA, Dele Oye, reaffirmed the commitment to enhancing sustainable economic ties between Nigeria and China. The discussions focused on addressing challenges faced by Nigerian exporters in the Chinese market and exploring new trade opportunities. Oye stressed the importance of dialogue to resolve issues related to financial instruments crucial for international trade.

Shen Yumou acknowledged the robust bilateral relationship between Nigeria and China and expressed a desire to deepen cooperation under the broader China-Africa Initiative. He announced that the China Africa Economic Trade Expo would be held in Nigeria in November 2024, promising further collaboration details. The meeting also addressed expanding the range of Nigerian agro commodities on China’s protocol list and improving the issuance and acceptance of letters of credit between Nigerian and Chinese banks.
