Heifer Nigeria has introduced a $40,000 funding initiative through the AYuTe Africa Challenge Nigeria 2024. This program aims to identify and support innovative, technology-driven, and agriculture-focused enterprises in Nigeria. The announcement was made by Dr. Lekan Tobe, the Interim Country Director at Heifer Nigeria, during an event in Abuja on Tuesday. Dr. Tobe highlighted that the challenge serves as a platform to discover exceptional young agritech innovators and foster strong partnerships. He mentioned that the national competition builds on a regional contest, which awards up to $1.5 million annually to top agritech innovators across Africa. This year, the prize money for the AYuTe Nigeria Challenge has been increased from $20,000 to $40,000, making the competition even more attractive and impactful. By doubling the prize money, Heifer Nigeria aims to enhance its commitment to agritech innovation and youth entrepreneurship. Dr. Tobe expressed confidence that this initiative will not only empower young entrepreneurs but also significantly transform the agricultural sector and improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Nigeria.
