Tinubu assures US of enhanced power supply through Nigeria’s abundant gas resources

President Bola Tinubu, represented by Minister Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has pledged improved power supply in Nigeria, leveraging the country’s abundant gas resources. This commitment was made at the U.S.-Africa Business Summit in Dallas, Texas, attended by over 1,500 U.S. and African executives, aiming to foster sustainable business partnerships.

Tuggar emphasized Nigeria’s focus on food security, outlining plans for year-round farming, provision of planting materials, and agro-processing zones. He highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships for agricultural development, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to economic ties and collaboration.

Meanwhile, the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) announced support for infrastructural development in Africa, pledging up to $412 million for Sierra Leone’s power system expansion. This commitment underscores the U.S.’s commitment to fostering growth and collaboration across Africa.
