NOG Energy Week 2024 to Address Sub-Saharan Africa’s Energy Challenges

Stakeholders in the energy sector across Sub-Saharan Africa are gearing up to convene at the NOG Energy Week 2024, scheduled from June 30th to July 4th, 2024, at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

The theme, “Showcasing Opportunities, Driving Investment, Meeting Energy Demand,” focuses on driving progress in the region’s energy market.

Mr. Wemimo Oyelana, the Country Director and Portfolio Director, Africa for the event, emphasized the increasing emphasis on gas and cleaner energy sources to fuel industrialization across African countries like Ghana and Nigeria. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Ghana’s Minister of Energy, is set to highlight the importance of competitive financing for natural gas projects.

Nigeria, with substantial gas reserves, is moving ahead with plans to execute a gas strategy aimed at driving industrialization and economic growth. Mr. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, Executive Vice President for Upstream at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), shared plans to enhance domestic gas utilization for power generation to support the manufacturing sector
