Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has removed two senior executives from their positions and intends to lay off hundreds more employees, citing frustration over declining sales and the slow pace of previous job cuts. The departed executives include Rebecca Tinucci, overseeing the Supercharger business, and Daniel Ho, leading the new vehicles program. Musk’s decision also entails letting go of around 500 employees from the Supercharger group.

Additionally, Tesla’s public policy team, previously led by Rohan Patel, will be dissolved. Musk emphasized the need for stringent cost reduction measures in an email to senior managers, stating that such actions are essential despite not being uniformly embraced within the executive staff. The total number of employees affected by Ho’s departure was not specified.

Ho, who joined Tesla in 2013, played a significant role in the development of key models like the Model S, 3, and Y before being entrusted with overseeing all new vehicles. Tinucci, on the other hand, joined the company in 2018 as a senior product manager. This move follows the recent departures of other senior leaders, including Patel and battery development chief Drew Baglino, and comes in conjunction with previous layoffs affecting over 10% of Tesla’s workforce.
