The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced plans to reimburse fees paid for forms by visually-impaired candidates of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), subject to specific criteria. Prof. Olarenwaju Fagbohun, Lagos Coordinator for JAMB Equal Opportunity Group, disclosed this on Monday at the University of Lagos’s Distance Learning Institute (DLI), the 2024 UTME center for visually-impaired candidates from Lagos and Ogun states.
Out of the 88 registered candidates for the 2024 UTME at this center, 82 attended. Prof. Fagbohun clarified that the reimbursement will only be applicable to visually-impaired candidates who achieved five ‘O’ Level credits in one sitting. This initiative aims to support and encourage visually-impaired candidates in their pursuit of higher education opportunities.
