Aviation threatens strike over aviation agencies’ revenue deduction

The Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) has issued a threat of industrial action if the Federal Government does not exempt aviation agencies from the directive to deduct 50 percent of their internally generated revenue (IGR).

The decision was revealed in a communiqué issued by ATSSSAN’s National Executive Council after a meeting attended by all 17 affiliates.

ATSSSAN emphasized the importance of exempting aviation agencies from the deduction, stating that they were not established for profit and that reducing their funds would jeopardize their ability to fulfill safety and security mandates effectively.

The association warned that if the government insisted on the deduction, leading to further financial strain on the agencies, they would be compelled to direct all aviation workers to go on strike until the decision is reversed.
